More information about Aischbüffel The buffalo that also tastes good to vegetarians!Even if the name Aischbüffel doesn’t sound like it, it’s its noble lightness that makes it something very special. The Franconian brewery Rittmayer is one of the few breweries that manages the balancing act between time-honored traditional beers and innovative, creative craft beers. The Hallerndorfer range includes both craft-brewed, down-to-earth beers and unusual, fancy beer specialties. Dark. Wild. Different. This is how the Rittmayers describe their Aischbüffel. Buffalo is the new bock, we say. Despite all the innovation, the recipe for this dark bock beer is subject to the specifications of the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516 and is a masterfully crafted brew. The recipe is not only subject to the purity law, but also to strict secrecy. The brewers do not reveal which hops were used, nor do they give any details about the malt. Extremely mysterious and at least as delicious! The Aischbüffel gallops into the glass in a dark chestnut brown and throws up a small, hazelnut-brown head. Fresh, green hops join forces with herbs, aromatic bay leaf and the stunningly sweet scent of a blooming summer meadow. A hint of dark chocolate underpins the interplay of aromas, while tangy notes of citrus and grapefruit are also present. The sweet malt notes of chocolate and caramel also appear in the taste test and are round and soft. The lack of bitterness on the tongue is surprising and leaves room for a lovely malty sweetness that lingers into the finish. The Aischbüffel is a well-balanced and surprisingly tame, pleasantly drinkable bock.
