More information about Cloves whole Cloves have a spicy, pungent aroma, which is already noticeable in the smell. The smell is reminiscent of Christmas, but cloves can be used all year round. They are ideal for stews, marinades, compotes, mixed pickles, chutneys and mulled wine. However, the cloves should be removed after stewing.
