More information about Fabulous gin Niepoort wines with the artistic „Fabelhaft“ labels are among the best known and most successful in Portugal. In collaboration between Dirk Niepoort and the Hamburg wine merchant Dirk Delventhal (Weinoutlet), a special „Fabelhaft Gin“ has now been created for the first time. This gin is a harmonious addition to the wine range, as the most important of the 9 botanicals used, cistus, is hand-picked in the Niepoort vineyards in the Douro Valley and sent to northern Germany.Here, the gin is produced in a small, renowned distillery. The distiller says: „We still distil traditionally in a 100-liter still. All botanicals are distilled individually and then blended according to the recipe. The nine botanicals are macerated for several days beforehand. In the case of cistus, we also add some of the macerate to the finished product. This increases the complexity of the product and enhances the spicy but also fresh components.
