Lots of spice (leather, tobacco) and an elegant tannin structure and fine acidity for freshness – Philip von Mazzei, dedicated to the great liberal ancestor and friend of Thomas Jefferson, is a Cabernet Sauvignon straight out of a picture book. There is no lack of ambition and tradition at Mazzei, as the self-confident motto „State of the art since 1435? proves. And rightly so, because the Philip, which offers an enormous price/enjoyment ratio, is a wine that producers can be proud of. Grown on limestone and sandstone at an altitude of up to 300 meters, hand-picked and matured in French and American barriques (30% new), it offers impressive Cabernet enjoyment for its price.
