The first and likely only Riesling from Dönnhoff grown in the limestone-rich sites of Westhofen was born out of necessity: a late frost at the Nahe destroyed much of the crop, and friends such as Philipp Wittmann provided vineyard parcels. Cornelius Dönnhoff determined the harvest date, picked the grapes, and vinified the wine in large wooden casks before finishing in stainless steel. The Riesling shows stony, dark-spicy notes, citrus, herbs, and chalk. On the palate, white-fleshed fruit, a chalky texture, and powerful acidity. Almost fully fermented dry, it radiates calm, character, and agility. A wine that unites origin with the unmistakable Dönnhoff signature.
